Rose Hall Liveries Christmas meal - Jan 9th 2010
Thank you to everyone who came out on a cold snowy winters night. It
was a great success and the response I've had back is that everyone
enjoyed themselves and thought it was a great venue. We raised £100 in the raffle which I will pass on to our chosen charities. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes. Sharon | |

A hot weekend
This
Bank Holiday weekend saw Claire and Billy competing at Mattingley Horse
trials where they achieved their best ever dressage score and finished
6th in their BE90 (Intro) section.
Philipa and Sam went off to Berry Farm on Bank Holiday Monday and jumped
a fabulous round in their first class that saw them returning home with
a red rosette. They then went on to jump another brilliant round and
came second in the open class. Well done!

An active spring
It is
becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with everyone's activities as
more and more liveries set out to various events around the country.
Claire and Billy came 8th in their recent BE90 class at Milton Keynes on
a glorious sunny day. The following weekend saw Kimberley and Hugo enter
another dressage competition at Wiggington where they came first in the
first prelim class and second in their second class.
Meanwhile, Pip, Becky and Hannah set off to Patchetts to compete in the
unaffiliated Show Jumping there and had a great time out with clear
rounds and funny tales to report back with.
The
pairs hunter trials at Great Westwood was a popular event, with several
liveries attending. Emma and Rod teamed up together and completed the
course with big smiles. As did Liz and Hattie. Unfortunately Sophie and
Cleio parted company half way round the course and were unable to
complete, but were instead rescued by the course photographer!
More recently, Kimberley entered the dressage at Bury Farm and came home
with a second and a third place. Well done!!

Making the most of the heat
17-19 April
On
Saturday, Charlotte and Sophie headed off to Bellingdon end where they
entered the OBH Riding Club Show Jumping competition. Sophie jumped a
fantastic clear round in her first round and her jump off was relatively
controlled but still fast enough to see her into 7th place and collect a
nice pink rosette. Charlotte jumped a bouncy clear round in her first
class and jumped a very fast jump of round which put her into 2nd place
and saw her qualify for the Chiltern and Thames Intermediate Jumping
championships which will take place in the autumn.
On
Sunday, Kate, Angela, Liz and Eleanor travelled to north Hertfordshire
to participate in the annual Farnham Bluebell Ride, a sponsored ride in
aid of local charities. The 10 mile ride ranged through beautiful
countryside, predominantly private land which had been opened up for the
purposes of the day. The bluebells were indeed out in magnificent
proliferation in the woodland areas, and we were warmed to perfection by
the glorious sunshine when out on the open farm tracks. The ride itself
was a gentle one, with a few inviting logs, small rails and cross poles
as optional jumps, and there were some lovely canters across lush
meadows. A welcome halfway refreshment stop, made the whole day
extremely civilised!
If you would like to enter a sponsored ride, there is an excellent one
on 20 September in Oxfordshire which has more (although optional)
jumping - see
www.kirtlington-sponsoredride.co.uk
Bill, Barbara, Rod, Sarah Louise and Barry went on the annual end of
hunting season ride to Whelpley Hill. All 5 horses were brilliantly
behaved and the ride gave Bill and Barbara the opportunity to practice
the wrangling skills they learnt in Montana when a heard of young
bullocks got slightly too friendly with the horses!

Easter Weekend
10-13th April 2009
The
liveries Good Friday Show Jumping, which this year took place in the
brilliantly refurbished arena, was very well attended despite the
continuous drizzle. The event was a fantastic opening to the Rose Hall
competition season and saw new and old liveries joining in for a piece
of the action. This was a first show jumping competition for several
horse-rider combinations and we would like to congratulate them and wish
them continued successes in their next events! Charlotte gave us a
pretty impressive flying demonstration and Kolani proved that he could
jump anything that he was thrown at.

An Action Packed Weekend
5th April 2009
Liz,
Eleanor, Kate, Sarah-Louise, Charlotte, Sophie, Becky and Kayleigh went
to ride around RAF Halton Sponsored ride and jump the famous plane at
the end of the airfield. Also in situ were Ron, Andy and Philipa who
were stewarding near Happy Valley, and Bill, Barbara & Rob helping on

course with no mishaps. A big thanks to the organisers for a brilliant
day. Photos can be seen

Out and About again
30th March 2009
Congratulations to
Kimberley and Hugo for winning the Patchetts winter Intro Dressage
trophy for gaining the most points at Patchetts shows over the winter
months. All the patience and hard work has finally been worth it and
they deserve a warm congratulations from us all.
This month saw a number of liveries enter the Breakspear Riding club
dressage at Greinan Farm. The event proved to be a particular success
for Sue and Rusty who came 6th in the Prelim 7 class.
The
start of the eventing season has seen Claire and Billy compete in their
first couple of affiliated events at which they two successive double
clears.
We
would like to wish Chris the best of luck for her forthcoming hip
replacement operation for which she is going into hospital this week. If
all goes well she should be back up on her feet and running around the
yard like a young foal again by the end of April.
PLEASE NOTE THAT
THE LIVERIES SHOW JUMPING ON GOOD FRIDAY WILL NOW START AT 2PM AND COSTS
£6 PER CLASS |

03.03.09 Grand Opening of our Refurbished
arena |
You
may have noticed the large mounds of stones and the heavy machinery
going in and out of Rose Hall in the past couple of weeks. The hard
work has finally paid off and our bottom arena refurbishment is
nearly finished. We will have put down a brand new waxed surface,
redone the drainage and mended the fencing around the edges. The
work is coming to a close and we are pleased to announce the Grand
Opening of the refurbished Arena on Friday 6th March at 2pm. All
liveries are welcome to attend. We will be having a few nibbles and
general merryment!
